I’ve had hearing loss longer than originally realized and tinnitus since my teens. A couple years ago I purchased a CS50+ from SoundWorld Solutions. Although fairly pleased with my new device, it was not all I had hoped.
This New Yorker article, High-Tech Hope for the Hard of Hearing, is well worth reading. However, what has me really excited is a newly announced offering from Bose called Hearphones. This is a quote from the New Yorker article,
“Hearphones look like a technological throwback: a pair of acorn-size earpieces connected by wires to a choker-like yoke (which can be concealed under a shirt collar). But because Hearphones aren’t meant to be invisible they have room for a long antenna, a big rechargeable battery, high-quality microphones and speakers, and far more power-hungry sound-processing and noise-cancelling technology than could be concealed inside an ear canal.”
About 5 years ago I tried to contact Bose with almost precisely this design. Unfortunately, they told me they only spoke with individuals about new technology after a patent had been issued. Learn more here about Hearphones by Bose.
